THORSTEN HOHMANN - GERMANY

Age - 25
Based - Jacksonville, Florida
Nickname - The Hitman
Hobbies - Reading, sports, music
Cue Used - Lucasi
Achievements - 2003 World Pool Champion. 2005 BCA Open Champion. 2005 European Straight Pool Champion. 2004 US Open Runner-up. 2004 European 8-Ball Champion. 2004 Challenge of Champions Runner-up. Currently ranked No.9 in Europe.

Hohmann exploded into the big league in July 2003 as he lifted the World Championship as a relative unknown, beating Earl Strickland in the semis and Alex Pagulayan in the final.

Since then he has worked hard to maintain his position and a string of victories in different conditions have confirmed his position as one of the game’s top players. Victories this year in the BCA Open, one of pool’s ‘Majors’, and at his favoured discipline of straight pool at the European Championship show that Hohmann is in a rich vein of form.

The imperious German looked in excellent shape at the World Championship in Taiwan, but eventually succumbed to a bout of tonsillitis following visits to doctors and hospitals.

He exited the tourney at the quarter-final stage at the hands of eventual champion Wu. With Mosconi Cup slots in the offing, Hohmann will be looking to go well at the Masters but the reality is that Hohmann looks a lock for the European team. Now lives in Florida following a move from his native Fulda earlier this year.
